Morgan 3 Wheeler long-term test review: fall in love

“Take the Morgan. It is there to be loved,” said the editor-in-chief Steve Cropley. An hour later, I started my weekend in the 3 Wheeler.

Because it was dark, I knew it would be nightfall before I get to my home, 70 miles away in Southampton, on the other side of the M3. Motorcycle helmet on, I’m leaving.

Thus began the less comfortable journey of my life so far. Although it wasn’t raining, it was cold enough to make me shiver, even when he is sitting, cloudy enough to be almost completely dark and quite busy on the road for another half-hour to be added to my travel time.

Morgan has not helped. Not a bit. But I was prepared in my attire for a car with zero protection against the weather, and mentally ready – a few months after a serious accident – be in a vehicle with little protection in the event of a collision. The default speedo backlight was a nuisance, so you have to judge the speed in the flow of traffic on the highway was not ideal, but I got there.

What I wasn’t prepared for – truck with wheels to face height, the wind whipping at my skin, and every fibre of my body is shaking like a washing machine full of bricks, was to fall completely, hopelessly in love with the source of all of this malaise.

The 3 Wheeler is not a car to take on the highway without preparation. But wherever you go, be it traffic-crowded highway, or magnificent, plunging B-road, it will dig into your heart.

So delighted was I with my new beautiful that a trip to the nearest country manor hotel was immediately organized, and the photo shoot took place before I took it home to show to all the family.

We have taken the habit of the Morgan drawing a crowd, and it was no different here. Those of all ages took instantly, and bend to the cries of “rev it, rev it!” afraid of only one child, with tears in her eyes. It is going to recover, but I’m not sure if I’m going, not knowing when I’m going to meet Morgan again.
