Died Irish writer William Trevor

MOSCOW, Nov 21 — RIA Novosti. Irish writer and playwright William Trevor, called among the candidates for the Nobel prize for literature, has died at the age of 88, reports broadcasting Corporation Bi-bi-si with reference to the publishing house Penguin Random House.

“We regret to announce the death of William Trevor, one of the greatest Irish writers. We Express our deep condolences to his family,” reads the statement of the Irish office of the company Penguin Random House.

Trevor gained fame as the author of plays, short stories and novels. Among his best known works – the novels “the Story of Lucy Gault” (2002), “Stepsons of destiny” (1983), a collection of short stories “Beyond the line” (1981). Writer three times became the winner of a prestigious British literary award Costa, four times were in the shortlist for the man Booker prize. The name Trevor was also named among the candidates for the Nobel prize for literature.
