The Prosecutor’s office of the Kirov region will check the compliance of the celebration of Halloween to the Russian legislation, said the representative of the Agency, reports “RIA Novosti”.
“The Prosecutor’s office received a petition, will be audited in the prescribed manner”, — said the representative office.
Previously the Prosecutor’s appeal was sent by the lawyer Yaroslav Mikhaylov. According to him, the celebration of Halloween “violates the Russian legislation, in particular articles on the contents and exercise of the missionary activity of the Federal law №125 “On freedom of conscience and on religious associations,” he said.
He added that Halloween is a “holiday of dark forces, the victory of evil over good”. Mikhailov sent two appeals to the regional Prosecutor’s office on October 25, and the Prosecutor’s office of 26 October.
Earlier, on 28 October, requesting to ban the celebration of Halloween was commented on in the Kremlin. According to the press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin “does not apply to such requests”. He recalled that “New year was never traditional Russian holiday, also came from abroad”.
