MOSCOW, October 24 – RIA Novosti. In difficult times, when there are attacks on the arts, creative people need to unite, said people’s artist of Russia Konstantin Raikin, speaking on held in Moscow all-Russian theatre forum.
Raikin said that today’s difficult times, when there are attacks on art, closed exhibitions, performances, and there’s no opposition from the people in the arts.
“Unfortunately, we are now very fragmented, and even worse, there’s a tendency to “slander each other”. And Guild solidarity requires us not to talk about their negative assessment in relation to a particular Director, the play, the theatre. We can say to each other, but not to stand in print and on TV,” — said Raikin.
According to him, the government should not interfere in the art, and should only help to create the conditions for creativity.
Earlier wide resonance was received by the situation in the Novosibirsk Opera house where after the scandal with the production directed by Timofey kulyabin the Opera “tannhäuser” under new leadership. The Prosecutor’s office of Novosibirsk has brought administrative proceedings against the Director of “Tannhauser” by Timothy of kulyabina and Director of the Novosibirsk Opera and ballet theatre Boris Mezdrich, who made the show an Opera, “desecrating items of religious worship”. The court stopped the administrative case in connection with absence of structure of a crime.
