Media: the police in India have eliminated 19 militants of the Maoist in the East

NEW DELHI, October 24 — RIA Novosti. The police in India in the course of a special operation eliminated 19 militants of the Maoist in the East of the country, two police officers got wounds, informs on Monday TV channel NDTV.

The incident occurred on the border of the States of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa. Police attacked the militants when they were conducting a meeting approximately 10 kilometers from the city of Malkangiri of Orissa.

On the spot was found small arms. Other details were not given.

Militants Maoists, which in India are called Naxalites, active in several States — Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and others. The militants are waging a guerrilla war, hiding in the jungle and making forays into human settlements to attack the authorities.
