In Venezuela postponed the collection of signatures for a referendum on the resignation of Maduro

MEXICO city, October 21 – RIA Novosti. Election Venezuelan authorities announced on Thursday the postponement to a later term of the beginning of the second stage of collecting signatures for a referendum for the resignation of President Nicolas Maduro.

According to the national electoral Council (CNE), we are talking about violations committed during the first stage of collecting signatures in June, which now makes it impossible for the second stage. In June was harvested 1% of signatures of voters, then the opposition began to prepare to collect 20% of signatures. In the case of the implementation of this task the authorities were to set a date for the referendum.

However, the decisions of the courts of the States of Aragua, Carabobo, Monagas, Apure and Bolivar actually overturned the results of collection of signatures because of alleged numerous instances of fraud. NIS agreed with these decisions, the new date of the collection of signatures will be announced separately.

The second stage of collecting signatures was scheduled for October 26-28. It is important for the opposition to hold a referendum in 2016. In case it is held after 10 January 2017, even with the positive response of Venezuelans on the issue of termination of powers of the Maduro presidency for the remaining two years is the current Vice-President. If the plebiscite will be held before, then, according to the Constitution, must be held new elections. Earlier, the election authorities said that this year the organization of such referendum is impossible.
