MP: sanctions against Russia drive Ukraine’s economy to a standstill

MOSCOW, 17 Dec — RIA Novosti. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, expanding sanctions against Russia, drives the economy of the country to a standstill, said a member of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak (“United Russia”).

Monday on the website Poroshenko was promulgated a decree according to which the President of Ukraine enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) to extend and expand the list of sanctions against legal and physical persons of the Russian Federation.

“The extension of sanctions against Russia, Poroshenko only deeper drives their own country’s economy to a standstill and crisis, covering Ukraine, the potential for development and depriving people of work. If Kiev decides to introduce a visa regime with our country, a huge number of Ukrainians will be without pay and it might provoke another revolt in Ukraine, not only the custom of the Maidan, and the people,” — said Zhelezniak reporters on Monday.

The MP believes that “each successive irresponsible step of Kiev strikes at a rapidly impoverished people of Ukraine.”

“Poroshenko regularly takes their cue from their “mentors” from the US and the EU, trying to please his patrons and thus earn another piece of Finance from the IMF,” — he said.

Zheleznyak called “another Russophobic idiocy” statement by the Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine on the prohibition of the Ukrainian airports from December 1 to duplicate information in the Russian language.

The MP stressed that the Ukrainian authorities violate the rights of a huge number of Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine. The politician expressed confidence that “attempts to vymanivaniya of Ukrainian reality everything connected with Russia will not be able to break the centuries-old common roots and connections between the peoples of our countries.”
