LONDON, 17 Dec – RIA Novosti. Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill during a meeting Tuesday in London with Queen Elizabeth II will discuss the situation of Christians in the middle East and Europe, while in the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) hope that the meeting would bring “tangible results”, said to journalists on Monday a press-the Secretary of the Patriarch, the priest of Alexander Volkov.
“As you can assume, the topics that will be addressed in the course of the conversation, there may be issues related to the situation of Christians in the middle East, and, of course, the current state of traditional Christianity in Europe, which, unfortunately, is now experiencing not the best times,” said Volkov.
He noted that the Russian Orthodox Church hope that the meeting will be fruitful. “We hope that this meeting will bring tangible results and to build relations between our peoples, since the Church, and the monarchy is the Foundation for the preservation of traditional values, which, unfortunately, now in the eyes of many people losing their importance,” — said Volkov.
According to him, “this meeting aims to highlight the importance of conservation in today’s world basis for the whole Christian world of values.”
Queen will of the Patriarch in the morning Businesscom Palace. The meeting will be present also the Chairman of the Department for external Church relations Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the Bishop of London of the Anglican Church Richard Chartres. The meeting will last about half an hour.
The visit of Patriarch Kirill on October 15-18 in Britain dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Church’s presence in the British Isles.
