“The Council on foreign investment on 17 October will consider the possible introduction of excise tax on sugary drinks”, – stated in the message Department.
The Russian authorities in early 2016 began to discuss the question of the introduction of excise duties on palm oil and some foods high in fat and sugar. It was assumed that such a measure, on the one hand, reduce the consumption of the Russians “bad” foods, on the other hand will replenish the budget revenues from excise taxes.
However, later the Ministry of Finance refused from the introduction of new excise taxes because it failed to fully thrash out this issue.
