The Dalai Lama believes that Russia and Ukraine should think about mutual benefit

RIGA, October 10 – RIA Novosti, Olga Lipic. Russia and Ukraine are linked economically and have to think about mutual benefit, for the common good to solve peacefully the problems in the relationship, considers the Dalai Lama.

“If there are differences between States, peoples, you have to think about how to solve problems for the common good. In the past we have also had a lot of battles… If military means could solve the problems, they would have decided,” said the Dalai Lama answering questions from the audience of his teachings in Riga.

According to him, in military conflicts is closely linked societies it is impossible to call the winner or the victim – all suffer. “They are two countries linked economically. Today the world is arranged so, that we depend on each other, and we need to think about mutual benefit,” said the Dalai Lama.

He cited the example of Pakistan and India. “If Pakistan will suffer, India will also suffer,” stated the spiritual leader.

To the teachings of the Dalai Lama for Buddhists in the Baltic countries and Russia in the hall of the Riga’s “Skonto” were about 4.5 thousand people from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia and also from Ukraine, Belarus, Finland, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, USA and other countries. In the hall you could see well-known politicians and artists, among them Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Boris Grebenshchikov, Valentin Gaft. The organizers of the exercises, addressed the society “Save Tibet” (Riga), Fund “Save Tibet” (Moscow) and the Center of Tibetan culture and information (Moscow).
