Patriarch of Jerusalem called on the faithful of the UOC of willingness to shed blood for the faith

MOSCOW, October 3 — RIA Novosti. The Orthodox Church will always be attacked, so the conflicts should be resolved through compromise and understanding, but when that fails, the believers should be ready “to testify of love and peace,” said Theophilos, Patriarch of Jerusalem at a meeting with a delegation of pilgrims of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

“In the words of the Apostle, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, and we need to remember the source of hatred for Christ and those who love Him, the root cause of divisions and conflicts. The Jerusalem Patriarchate is trying to bear witness in the world. To compromise, to try to find common ground, addressing the need until the very end. And when it is no longer possible, in the spirit of love and peace of Christ to be ready to testify of love and peace. That was the way all churches”, — quotes the words of the Patriarch of Jerusalem website of Information Department of the UOC.

Patriarch Theophilos noted that this path had led them to the Jerusalem Church. Also, according to him, “in the twentieth century testified to the genuine power of Christ Russian Church”.

In Ukraine there is a canonical UOC-MP, which is a self-governing Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, and unrecognized by the world Orthodox Church structures — “Kyivan Patriarchate (KP) and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC). In the UOC before repeatedly reported on cases of harassment of priests and seizures of the Orthodox churches representatives of the KP.
