MOSCOW, September 26 — RIA Novosti. Near MGIMO will synagogue, intended for Jewish students, told RIA Novosti in the press service of chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar.
“Jewish students have always taken an active part in community life. The need to create synagogues in walking distance from the Institute is constantly discussed among our members. Work on the implementation of this project took several years. Today we can confidently say that most of our ideas implemented, but certainly there are many more ideas on which to work. The important thing is that now the Jewish students of one of the leading universities in the country will have the opportunity to eat kosher, to attend classes traditionally, and to learn more about the history of their people without job training”, — the press service quoted the head of the synagogue of Rabbi Shimon Krasnodarskogo.
The opening ceremony will take place on 28 September. It will be joined by Rabbi Berl Lazar, who, according to Krasnodarskogo, was the initiator of this project.
This spring, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill consecrated the Church at MGIMO, dedicated to Prince Alexander Nevsky. The Orthodox Church — in honor of the Martyr Tatiana is also available at MSU.
