On Saturday, 48-year-old Governerd, speakers in the class C4 were involved in a serious accident during the race. On the way to the hospital, the racer, bumped his head on a stone directly after the fall, heart stopped.

Head of the IPC Philip Craven and International Cycling Union (UCI) Brian Cookson expressed his condolences over the incident.
