That state TV channels of Uzbekistan on 2 September changed the broadcasting schedule announced “Newspaper.uz”. From the program were excluded entertainment, advertising, TV series, some movies. They were replaced with programs about the history and culture of Uzbekistan, achievements and transformations over the years of Karimov.

Probable successors

The head of the funeral Commission appointed by Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyaev. He has served as Premier since 2003. As previously said RBC expert Andrei Grozin, the one who will be appointed head of the funeral Commission, most likely will be the next President of the Republic.

So in 2006 occurred in Turkmenistan. When he died the President of the country Saparmurat Niyazov, the funeral Director became the Minister of health, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov. He, by the decision of the national security Council, was appointed acting President, although under the law this position was to receive the head of the Senate. Uzbekistan also has such a rule. While that presidential powers can obtain, the Chairman of the Senate of Nigmatulla Yuldashev, not officially reported, however, in his letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the press-service of the Kremlin Yuldashev called acting.

About Shavkat Mirziyaev little is known. He was born July 24, 1957 in Jizzakh region. According to the Tajik portal Asia Plus, rod Mirzaevich comes from Tajikistan, father politics was a doctor and mother a nurse in the hospital, where he contracted and died. Mirzijaev graduated from the Tashkent Institute of irrigation and mechanization of agriculture, which was not prestigious, even in Soviet times. In addition, he has a reputation as a man who is not very well versed in the modern economy and world politics. Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister in 2003, from September 2001 to 2003, was Governor of Samarkand region, previously held the same post in his native Jizzakh region.

A study by the International Institute of political situation indicates that, as a guberantor two areas mirzijaev has been associated with Bukhara-Samarkand group, to which belonged Karimov. Cizakca usually easily find a common language with Tashkent. Among the opposition there were rumors that he was a Tajik language, which gives it affinity with Islam Karimov, the study said.

“He is considered very moderate, humble Karimov politician. This is a plus for the appointment of a successor, as he will continue the policy of the current President and is likely to comply with the agreement with his family”, — was stated in the same report, based on interviews with experts.

Have mirzijaeva has ties with the Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov: in the beginning of may 2013, died in a car accident Babur Usmanov, the husband of the niece mirzijaeva and at the same time, Usmanov’s nephew.

Another likely candidate for the post of successor to Karimov, according to experts, could become Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov. He is the son of the famous Uzbek scientist, Sadik Azimov, closely associated with the elite groups of the Tashkent clan, mentioned in the study WAS. Asimov has long worked in the positions of Chairman of the National Bank for foreign economic Affairs and the Minister of Finance.
