Istanbul was the opening ceremony of the third bridge over the Bosphorus Strait, Reuters reports.
The new bridge is named after the ninth ruler of the Ottoman Empire of the XVI century, Sultan Yavuz Selim. Its length is 1.4 km, width — 59 m, height of supports — 322 M. On the canvas of the bridge selected eight gas stations and two railway high speed line.
Along with the new bridge was open the highway on the North coast of Istanbul. The total project cost of $3 billion.
At the opening ceremony of new transport lines was attended by political leaders of Turkey and foreign guests, including the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, king of Bahrain, Hamad bin ISA al Khalifa, the President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, President of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a congratulatory speech in which he noted that currently preparing for the construction of a bridge across the Dardanelles Strait.
“The second Strait also need a necklace, and preparations for the construction of a bridge across the çanakkale [Dardanelles] already underway”, he said (quoted by “RIA Novosti”).
For the passage of the bridge will be open on Saturday, August 27. Until 31 August the bridge will be free. Since September, the cost of travel on it for private transport amount to about three dollars, besides one dollar will cost every 12 miles of travel on the bridge adjacent to the highway.
