“Vympelcom” and Tele2 have agreed to establish a joint network in 27 regions. This is stated in the agreement of intent, which read “Vedomosti”.

The document States that operators will share both passive and active infrastructure (communication channels and switching equipment). We are talking about Irkutsk, Saratov, Tver areas, St.-Petersburg and Leningrad region, Krasnodar territory and etc.

The publication notes that the agreement will not affect Moscow and Moscow region. Also it does not include owned by Tele2 450 MHz Frequency until then, until it will be built on a commercial network. As expected, the agreement will enable operators to reduce operating and capital costs, as now they will be together to pay the expenses of the maintenance and upgrading of the network.

According to the source Newspapers, especially important will be the merging of LTE bands, as it will allow companies to dramatically increase network capacity and speed Internet access. The publication notes that in six of the regions, Tele2 had not worked, and will now be able to provide there services.

In December 2014, VimpelCom signed a similar agreement with MTS. Then the operators have agreed on joint construction and operation of LTE networks in 36 regions. In December 2015, it became known that in addition to networks, the operators will use the frequencies for LTE in 20 regions of Russia.

At the end of January 2016, the sources of “Vedomosti” reported that at the end of 2015, shareholders Теlе2 and “VimpelCom” have met to discuss the possibility of merging. However, no immediate results of this conversation were not.
