Ukraine has carried more than 1.2 thousand monuments to Lenin

In the framework of de-communization in Ukraine dismantled more than 1.2 thousand “idols of Lenin,” said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, reports “Interfax — Ukraine”.

Also Poroshenko said about the renaming of the 26 districts and 987 settlements throughout Ukraine.

Ukrainian national memory Institute in the fall of 2015 was to create a list of 520 names of historical figures that cannot be used in names of streets and other toponyms. Prohibited were the names of the figures who held senior positions in the Communist party, the highest authorities of the USSR, as well as the names of the members of the Cheka, GPU, NKVD, KGB and leaders of the 1917 revolution.

Of the law on decommunization in Ukraine is valid from April 2015.
