The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine (PGO) has denied ex-President Viktor Yanukovych’s request to hold a confrontation with the existing authorities. Reported by the Ukrainian edition “Mirror of week” with reference to a source in GPU.
The petition Yanukovych, the GPU was received a few days ago. “Today, we refused”, — said the source. According to the Criminal procedural code of Ukraine in order to conduct a simultaneous interrogation, “must have the prior testimony of persons”, all of the defendants. “Yanukovych is, as you know, the testimony has not given,” added the source.
According to the source, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has already sent three requests to Russia for questioning Yanukovych and six requests about extradition to Ukraine. But they were not answered, the source added.
On the petition of the lawyer Yanukovych Vitaly Serdyuk to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine concerning the confrontation Yanukovych Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, it became known on August 16. The next day, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that “personally organize” Yanukovych confrontation, if he comes to Ukraine. “There will be confrontation and a fair trial, and even a fair verdict,” then added Lutsenko.
