Lebanon will become the special representative for relations with Ukraine

Dmitry Livanov, who is now the Minister of education and science of Russia, will leave that position and become the President’s special representative on trade and economic relations with Ukraine, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I think that his personal qualities will help in the construction, revival of economic ties with our neighboring country, what is important for us”, — said the head of state.

He noted that the development of trade-economic relations with Ukraine should be “a constant of our attention”. Meanwhile, Putin added that the question on appointment of the Ambassador to Ukraine will be decided later.

Earlier post of special representative for trade and economic relations with Ukraine was occupied by Mikhail Zurabov. But Putin fired him on August 4. At the end of July Zurabov was dismissed. On the same day, sources RBC reported that the new Ambassador to Ukraine may become the presidential envoy in the Volga Federal district Mikhail Babich.

That Lebanon will leave his post, told RBC source in the government confirmed a source in the Ministry of education. The new Minister of education of Russia will become an employee of the presidential administration Olga Vasilyeva.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that it “has a good track record.” According to the head of the government, Vasilyev worked as a teacher, as well as in the system of the Academy of Sciences. “I think she is able to implement these new tasks”, — concluded Medvedev.
