The public Prosecutor of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko supported the proposal of former President Viktor Yanukovych of conducting confrontation, but in Kiev, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
Lutsenko said that “personally organize” Yanukovych confrontation when the former President of Ukraine “will be responsible for all acts performed before the Ukrainian people”. “There will be confrontation and a fair trial, and even a fair verdict,” added the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
He noted that the former President will not dictate to Ukraine what to do with the investigation against him. Lutsenko called Yanukovych “a weakling, a traitor to the state, who plundered the country”. Also Lutsenko has accused the former President in calling for armed aggression from the territory of a neighboring state, where he “ran away”.
The desire of Yanukovych to hold a confrontation with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko August 17, said the lawyer of ex-President Vitaly Serdyuk. According to Serdyuk, the petition was filed to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, although the Prosecutor’s office has not confirmed the receipt.
