In Turkey arrested more than 40 thousand people after coup attempt

Turkey has arrested 40 029 people in the investigation of the coup attempt. This was stated by Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, reports Reuters.

He added that 20 of 355 people have been formally charged. Yildirim also said that 79 900 people were dismissed from the public sector, whether police, civil service or judicial institutions.

Along with this, the authorities closed 4 262 companies or organizations which, in their opinion, are connected with Fethullah Gulen.

Last week, Yildirim said that in a country after a coup attempt, dismissed or suspended 81 494 people, including some judges, soldiers and civil servants.

Wednesday, August 17, the Ministry of justice of Turkey has prepared a reform, which the prisons would be released 38 thousand. They will replace a real sentence to a suspended one. Thus, according to the Minister of justice of Turkey Bekir Bozdag, the released will be under special supervision.

On the night of July 16 in Turkey was a coup attempt. The military seized several government buildings in Istanbul and Ankara. The Turkish authorities believe that the mastermind of the coup is a Turkish writer and former preacher and Imam Fethullah Gulen, however, he denies his guilt.
