Press Secretary of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev Natalia Timakova has confirmed that the sale of 60.2% of shares of “Bashneft” was postponed indefinitely. About it reports TASS.
“Yes, indeed, the Prime Minister has made a decision and it was approved by the President”, — said the Agency interlocutor.
Earlier, a Federal official and a source close to the government told RBC that the government decided to postpone the privatization of “Bashneft” at a later date. Also Timakova told RBC that the transfer of the sale was the decision of Medvedev.
According to the Federal source, the reasons for this decision was that the government thought about the need to sell the entire company at such a low market. Also played a role, the ability to sell 19.5% of Rosneft and other companies, the source said. He added that he was influenced by a letter from the Governor of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, who has invited President Vladimir Putin to postpone the privatisation”.
As told RBC other Federal official, in his letter Khamitov asked not to privatize “Bashneft” in 2016 or to reduce the government stake to 25%, so the company was able to fulfill social obligations to the Republic. The Bashkir government owns 25% of Bashneft and did not plan to sell their shares together with a share of the Federal government.
