Medvedev extended the sanctions the destruction of food before the end of 2017

Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev extended the validity of the rules sanctions the destruction of products by the end of 2017. The relevant government decree published on Friday on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The deadline for the destruction of the sanctions was extended from 5 August 2006 to 31 December 2017. This is because in June the Russian government extended the food embargo until the end of 2017.

The rules relate to the destruction of agricultural products, raw materials and food from the USA, EU countries, Australia, Albania, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Montenegro. For these countries there is a food embargo imposed by Moscow in response to Western sanctions.

Embargo from August 7 2014 apply to USA, EU, Australia, Norway and Canada. In 2015 it has been extended until August 5, 2016. In the list of countries which prohibited the importation of goods, included Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

From 1 January, the embargo also applies to Ukraine.
