Official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova considered “vile” decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) not to allow Russian athletes to the Games in Rio de Janeiro.
“The decision on non-admission for the Paralympic games, the Russian national Paralympic team is striking in its meanness and inhumanity. It is a betrayal of the most high human rights standards that underlie the modern world,” wrote Zakharova in Facebook.
IPC announced the removal of the Russians on Sunday. Committee head Philip Craven said that Russia was unable to prove his innocence.
Russia has challenged the decision of the IPC in the court of arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. The appeal will be considered in due order, said earlier the President of the Russian Federation of sports persons with lesions of the musculoskeletal system (SCI) Lev Seleznev.
