In Armenia detained 200 people after the capture of the police station in Yerevan

As informs Agency “Interfax”, the police just delivered about 200 people who were checked in touch with the opposition civic initiative Founding Parliament.

According to the publication, PanArmenian, Deputy chief of police Hunan Poghosyan confirmed the detention, but did not specify how many people were taken to the office. According to him, all of them are detained for legitimate reasons and will be released in a timely manner, “depending on the offense”.

The building of the police station in the Yerevan district of Erebuni was captured on the morning of 17 July. During the attack, several policemen were taken hostage, two were seriously injured, and the Deputy commander of regiment of patrol police Department for the city of Yerevan Arthur Vanoyan was killed.

The attackers initially demanded the release from custody of a party to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh Zhirayr Sefilyan, who is suspected in illegal acquisition and weapon storage. Later member of Parliament Nikol Pashinyan, who personally negotiated with the extremists, said that they demanded the resignation of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the formation of a new government.
