In Minsk, on 87-m to year of life has died the national actor of the USSR Rostislav Yankovsky. This was reported on the website of the National academic drama theater named after Maxim Gorky, an actor which he was.
A memorial service will be held on June 28 at 10:00.
Jankowski was born on 5 Feb 1930 in Odessa. He graduated in 1951, the Theatre Studio at the Leninabad drama theatre, where he worked until 1957. In the same year he moved to Minsk and began working at the National academic drama theatre named after Maxim Gorky.
He was the honored artist of the Byelorussian SSR and people’s artist of the Byelorussian SSR. In 1978 he received the title of people’s artist of the USSR. Jankowski was awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna and Order of the Fatherland of III and II degrees.
He played more than 160 roles in theatre and more than 50 in movies, including “In June 41-go”, “Councilor”, “two comrades were Serving” and others.
