The players of the Russian national team, and head coach Leonid Slutsky addressed an appeal to Russian fans, who are in France, where the European championship. They thanked the fans for their support and urged to behave “correctly”. The text of the appeal published on the website of the Russian football Union (RFU).
“We appeal to all Russian football fans who plan to attend matches in Lille and Toulouse, with an earnest request — behave correctly, do not break the rules of behavior in the stadiums and in public places. For international football organizations is very important guarantee that in the future fans will have no violations”, — stated in the message.
Also, the football team and the head coach expressed gratitude to the Russian fans for “amazing support” they provided to the Russian team in the opening match of Euro 2016 against a team of England (1:1). “Largely because of that factor we managed to score a crucial goal at the end of the match and win the first point on such a representative tournament”, — emphasized in circulation.
Earlier, the sports Minister of France Patrick Kanner on Twitter appealed to Russian authorities with a request to block football fans who took part in the riots in Marseille.
“Our British colleagues have blocked 3 thousand bullies. Ask Russia to do the same. This behavior of bullies is unacceptable. I am very glad that UEFA threatened the violators of serious sanctions. We will not allow them to interfere with the tournament in our country,” wrote Kanner.
11 June on the eve of the match Russia — England in the historic part of Marseille, and also in the port there have been clashes between Russian and English fans, which injured more than 30 people. According to the Prosecutor of Marseille Brice Robin, the riots were attended by about 150 hooligans from Russia.
Immediately after the match a group of Russian fans broke into the sector with the British, where again there was a fight.
After that, UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the RFU and the Russian national team. The verdict will be announced on Tuesday, June 14.
