Carmaker Fiat Chrysler and the taxi service Uber are discussing joint work on the creation of an unmanned vehicle. About it reports Bloomberg with reference to informed sources.
According to them, the negotiations are in the early stages, at what Uber is also discussing cooperation with several other avtoproizvodtelyami.
Fiat also negotiated with Amazon.com Inc., but no agreement was reached, according to sources.
Fiat and Uber declined to comment, the Agency said.
Previously, the agreement on the work program on unmanned driving was reached between Fiat Chrysler and Google. As wrote the Wall Street Journal, the program already has been tested in California and other U.S. States.
At the same time, Uber has its own center to work with unmanned vehicles in Pittsburgh, and the company plans to introduce in its fleet of unmanned vehicles by 2020. Pittsburgh was selected for testing because it is “an ideal environment for the development and testing of unmanned vehicle technology on various types of roads, with different traffic pattern and the weather, explained Uber.
It was also reported that to start testing unmanned taxi going General Motors and analogue Uber — American service Lyft. It is assumed that, using the app, the customer can choose the taxi with or without driver.
