Accused of tax evasion in Russia the businessman has received the passport of Ukraine

Businessman Konstantin Grigorishin, accused in Russia of tax evasion of nearly 675 million rubles, received Ukrainian citizenship. About it reports “Interfax-Ukraine” with reference to an informed source.

The businessman, who has the citizenship of Russia and of the Republic of Cyprus, has addressed with the corresponding statement to the migration service of Ukraine. He asked for citizenship “due to the fact that he was born on the territory of Ukraine”, noted in the State migration service of Ukraine.

The service clarified that “the existence of any criminal proceedings on the territory of Ukraine or, for example, the Russian Federation cannot be the basis for refusal in granting of citizenship by territorial origin”.

About the criminal case against the businessman Konstantin Grigorishin became known in April 2016. The case is being investigated under part 2 of article 199 of the criminal code (tax evasion with the organization in especially large size), wrote the newspaper “Kommersant”. During a meeting of the Moscow city court, the investigator said that Grigorishin in 2009-2010 “didn’t pay taxes with the company’s “PEAK Creativity”, the actual owner that he is worth more than 674 million RUB”.

Later investigation announced of a businessman on the international wanted list. Basmanny court of Moscow in absentia arrested Grigorishin and his property: two apartments in the Dairy lane, the apartment is on Bolshaya Yakimanka street and a house in the suburbs.

Lawyers Grigorishin has declared readiness of their client to compensate the damages from non-payment of taxes “without admitting guilt”.
