Putin congratulated the winners of the world championship on hockey

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has congratulated the national teams of Canada, Finland and Russia, which ranked respectively first, second and third places at the world hockey championship. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.

“First of all I want to congratulate the founders of hockey, team Canada with gold medals of the world championship. Thank you Canada for what it gave the world such a wonderful, fun sport. Thank you team Finland for their wonderful, beautiful game,” – said Putin at the closing ceremony of the championship.

“I congratulate the Russian team with their bronze medals. Of course, I know that the fans hoped for more, but sport is sport, hockey is hockey. The guys played hard, was doing very well before, and I heartily congratulate them”, – said the President.

In the ice hockey world championship, which took place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, defeated team Canada, who beat in the final match on may 22, the national team of Finland with the score 2:0. Earlier on Sunday Russian national team has won bronze medals in the world championship, beating with the score 7:2 team USA.
