Chilean zoo shot the lions to save suicides

Zoo staff in the Chilean capital Santiago has killed two lions to rescue the man in the cage, which, presumably, had intended to commit suicide. It is reported by The Associated Press with reference to the employees of the zoo.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when the zoo was a large number of visitors. It is reported that 20-year-old young man broke into the enclosure, took off his clothes and walked over to the lions, which pounced on him.

As the Director of the zoo Alejandra Montalba, the zoo was not a fast-acting sleep-inducing devices, so employees were forced to kill a lion and a lioness. She said she was shocked by the incident.

In the clothes of a young man found a suicide note, he was hospitalized in serious condition. According to witnesses, he made statements of a religious nature.
