The film “the Disciple” by Russian Director Kirill Serebrennikov received the independent Francois Chalet prize, which is awarded at the International Cannes film festival, reports French publication Challenges.

The script of “Student” written on the basis of the play “the Martyr” by Marius von Mayenburg. It tells of the schoolboy Benjamin, who believed that he knows all about moral norms. His behavior becomes a test to others. Originally a play called “(M) student” showed in the “Gogol-center” Kirill Serebrennikov, later the Director decided to adapt it for the big screen.
The Francois Chalet prize has been awarded since 1997 for “best reflection of the reality of our world.” It was created in honor of a French journalist, writer and cinema historian, who died in 1996.
