France opened the 69th Cannes film festival

In France opened the 69th Cannes film festival, according to the official Twitter of the event. About the opening from the stage officially announced actress Jessica Chastain and actor Vincent Lindon.

The ceremony began with a traditional “red carpet”, which held members and guests. The opening film in 2016 is a new picture of woody Allen’s “high life” about Hollywood of the 1930-ies. Works Director for the third time the festival is opened: in 2002, the opening film was “Hollywood ending”, and in 2011 – “Midnight in Paris”.

At a press conference before the ceremony, the Director promised that “Secular life” is not his last movie. “I don’t feel old. I am sure that one day I would Wake up in the morning with a stroke and will be one of those you see in a wheelchair. And you say: “Remember him? It was woody Allen!”, – the Director said, promising that until that happens, he will continue to remove (quoted by Reuters).

In 2016 the main competition of the festival includes 20 films, among which there is not a single Russian paintings. For the main prize, in particular, will compete “I, Daniel Blake,” Ken Loach, “the Neon demon by Nicolas Winding Refn, “She”, Paul Verhoeven, “Juliet” by Pedro Almodovar and the new film of Jim Jarmusch “Paterson”.

Russian paintings are represented in other programmes of Cannes. In competition “the Special sight” involved “Student” by Kirill Serebryannikov.

The festival jury this year is headed by the Director of the film “Mad Max. Fury road” George Miller. To evaluate patterns will also Kirsten dunst, Vanessa Paradis and Valerie Golino, Mads Mikkelsen and Donald Sutherland.

Last year the main award of the festival – the “Palme d’or” – received French film “Dipan” by Jacques Audiard, is dedicated to the history of a refugee from Sri Lanka.
