In China shut down a large-scale production of fake jellyfish

In Eastern China, in the coastal provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu, the police discovered and shut down two businesses in which man-made ingredients produced fake jellyfish, informs Bi-bi-si.

According to law enforcement, illegal production worked during the year. During this time at the local food markets were sold more than 10 tons of fake jellyfish. Suspected illegal income is estimated at ¥170 million ($26.1).

The police of the city of Huzhou has released a guide on how to distinguish genuine product from counterfeit. It says that the artificial jellyfish has no taste or smell, it is difficult to cut, and the texture of the adhesive tape. As for fresh natural jellyfish, it should smell like fish, to be the color is yellowish and iridescent.
