French retailer Leroy Merlin plans to increase the number of hypermarkets in Russia in three times in five years — from 45 to 140, said the CEO of the company in Russia Vincent jeanty.
“Now we have a development plan, which involves opening stores in cities with over 400 thousand inhabitants. At the moment we have 45 stores in five years will be 140” — quoted by TASS jeanty.
The company plans to open an average of 20 stores a year, and in 2016 their number will amount to 15-16. In 2015, Leroy Merlin opened in Russia and eight hypermarket.
The size of the investment to open stores in 2016 will amount to 30 billion rubles, said jeanty. The prospect of next year for the company — the far East, in particular Khabarovsk.
Less ambitious plans the company announced in April 2015. Then the Director for regional development at Leroy Merlin in Russia Krzysztof tkacik said “RIA Novosti” that in the next ten years the retailer plans to increase the number of stores from 35 to 100. The company stressed that the expansion of the network occurs due to the low prices which attract new customers.
