Russian schoolchildren aged 10 years and older will be checked for Smoking — media

MOSCOW, 18 Jul — RIA Novosti. The Ministry of health approved a new procedure of examination of children, according to which since 2013, students over the age of 10 will be checked annually on Smoking, wrote on Monday the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to the interlocutors in the Department.

The Ministry of health approved a new procedure of examination means a complete survey of children in eight age periods: 1 year, 3, 7, 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17 years. As told in Department, the list of tests in 2013 will include ultrasound of the liver, kidneys, heart, thyroid, and hormonal status determination in adolescents 14 years and ultrasound of reproductive organs for Teens 14-15 years old. According to the new order, children from the age of 10 will also be testing for the detection of Smoking — though every year.

“Since 10 years, Russian schoolchildren will be tested annually for Smoking. Analysis of carbon monoxide in exhaled air and blood carboxyhemoglobin in the blood will be included in the list of mandatory procedures of the universal annual prophylactic medical examination of children”, — the newspaper writes.

According to the publication, to conduct routine inspections of 26.7 million children in the compulsory medical insurance system provides 35 billion rubles, so that the examination of one child will cost 1310 rubles.
