What is known?

Spin operates in nine U.S. cities and on the campuses of five American universities. The company is not engaged in the development of electric vehicles, in the summer she signed a contract with the Ninebot on the delivery of 30 000 scooters before the end of the year. Curiously, Ford already has a similar share project Jelly. It is implemented in cooperation with Purdue University and is primarily aimed at the study of the ways of integration of scooters in urban infrastructure.

The transaction value was not disclosed, but several sources Axios announced that it is close to $100 million. The earlier Spin was estimated at $40 million. Going under the wing of Ford, the service will not stop their work — the team says they are willing to actively expand.
A new trend

The main competitors are startups Spin and Bird Lime. More recently, Uber and Lyft also offer their users to take the scooters for short trips. No wonder Ford is also interested in this direction.
