The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will allocate UAH 500 million for the repayment of wage arrears to employees of state-owned mines, according to the website of the Cabinet.
“Today we are making a decision to allocate UAH 500 million for the payment of wages and losses of Ukrainian mines, which are in state ownership”, — said the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman during the meeting of the government on Wednesday.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on 13 July adopted a decision to allocate state-owned mines further 1,4 billion UAH of subsidies for the repayment of wage arrears to miners. However, according to the Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik, on October 17 from 1.4 billion statutory funds for the payment of arrears to the miners was directed only 113 million UAH. At that time the Minister was informed that the problem is lack of funds, and the Agency jointly with the Ministry of Finance is looking for solutions.
In early October, the Deputy Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Anatolii Korzun informed that the wage arrears to employees of state-owned coal enterprises reached 470 million.
Later, at the end of the same month, the people’s Deputy Sergey Shakhov stated that the debt on salary payment to state coal mines more than 1 billion UAH.
Recall that in late October the miners mine named Kapustin of the state company “lisichanskugol” in Lugansk region went on strike under the ground with the requirement to pay them debt on a salary, which reached 170 million UAH, reported the Chairman of the independent trade Union of miners of Ukraine Mikhail Volynets.
Also recall that the miners ‘ strike because of wage arrears took place last year on gossage in the Luhansk region, and also because of low wages went on strike from 5 mines in Krivoy Rog.
