For poisoning the bees are going to punish harder — state foods and consumer service

The state foods and consumer service has prepared a bill to prevent the poisoning of bees, reported on the Agency’s website.

The reason for the mass death of bees from drugs that are used to protect agricultural plants, called excessive deregulation, the weakening of control of this sphere and the unconscious attitude of farmers.

“State foods and consumer service is aware of the need to resolve this issue. With this purpose, has been developed and released for public discussion the draft law on amendments to the current legislation for the handling of pesticides and agrochemicals. The bill proposes to increase liability for violation of the use of pesticides and agrochemicals including criminal responsibility”, — said the head of Department Vladimir Lapa.

The changes will affect the laws “About pesticides and agrochemicals”, “On plant protection”, “On licensing of types of economic activity”, “On beekeeping”, and the Criminal code of Ukraine.

During a meeting of the beekeepers pointed to the need to resolve the issue of spraying of fields from aircraft. According to them, this kind of handling pesticides and agrochemicals can lead to the most serious consequences both for bees and for people.

Volodymyr Lapa promised resolved at the legislative level. And added that now is elaborating a new draft law on quarantine and protection of plants it will be as close to EU standards. The bill will be promulgated before the end of the month.

We will remind that this year in Ukraine recorded mass poisoning of bees. Unlike last year, when the poisoning of the bees complained in six regions of Ukraine, in 2018 we’re talking about that beekeepers throughout the country.

In Ukraine there are about 400 thousand beekeepers, which together produce 70 thousand tons of honey per year, which is the highest in Europe. Almost 57 thousand tons, or 80% of Ukrainian honey exported to the European Union.
