Ariana and Aretha dominate charts

Ariana Grande has looked to the top of the UK album Charts in a week that three Aretha Franklin albums re-enter the Top 40.

Grande said she was “so grateful” to score her second UK number one album with sweetener, sold over 45,000 copies in its first week of release.

Meanwhile, Franklin’s death saw a surge of interest in your back catalogue.

Respect and I have A Little prayer, Say, streamed revealed more than a million times each this week, collected data from the Official Charts Company.

Grande last to the top of the Charts with a Dangerous woman who spent a week in the top spot in 2016.

“Thank you so much! I am so grateful! I can’t tell you how grateful I am,” said the 25-year-old about her latest chart-coup.

Sweetener success brought an end to the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again soundtrack, the four-week chart reign.

It is one of four entries in this week’s Top 10, which also debuts for Bugzy Malone, Gabrielle and slaves, the six, seven and eight, respectively.

Calvin Harris and Sam Smith, Promises, was the most downloaded track in the last seven days, enough to make it in this week, the highest new entry at four.

Grande has three songs in this week Top 40: God is a woman, the, six, Breathin in eight and a sweetener title track on the 22.

All are higher than the highest Chart-Aretha-track, I Say A Little prayer, just outside the Top 50 to 51.
