Gatwick flight information screens fail

Edmund von der Burg

The staff at Gatwick Airport have to write the flight information on the boards due to a technical problem with the airport digital screens.

Vodafone provides the service, and said a damaged fiber cable was the culprit.

“Our engineers are working hard to fix the cable as soon as possible. This is a priority for us,” he said.

An airport spokesman apologised to passengers affected by the issue, adding that a “handful of people” had lost their flights.

Passengers have been warned for the temporary use of flight information boards in the departure lounges or listen to the airline flight announcements.

All flights are currently leaving on time.
