England’s World Cup defeat saw 26.5 m

A peak audience of 26.5 million people watched England World Cup on ITV, according to overnight figures.

That made it the most watched five minutes of British TV since the 2012 Olympics, the opening ceremony.

On Wednesday the hearing of a peak between 21:30 to 21:35 BST England has tried to find a balance at the end of extra time in the semi-final against Croatia.

But they failed to score, which means Croatia has won 2-1 in Sunday’s final against France.

Overall the TV to match the media to the semi-final of 24.3 million euros, which does not take into account the people watching in pubs or in the open air on big screens.

ITV said that there was a record 4.3 million requests to watch online ITV Hub.

About 80% of all viewers watching TV in the UK at the moment are in tune with the game.

The rating reflects the huge interest in England’s first World Cup semi-final since 1990.

However, not all of them could withstand the tension and some of the changed channels.

The previous highest audience during this World Cup was of 23.6 million euros for the supply of England during the penalty kicks to win the Colombia in the last 16.
