INTERFAX – the head of the Synodal Department for external Church relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk agree with the authors of the bill allowing parents access to medical records of minor children under the age of 15 years and believes that until the child reaches the age of majority, parents have the right to obtain comprehensive information about his health.
“When you reach the age of majority, the parents cease to be responsible for their child, then should enter into force the law on maintaining medical confidentiality,” he said in the program “Church and world” on TV channel “Russia-24”.
For teenagers under the age of majority, the Hierarch noticed that parents must be able to obtain complete data about the health of your child, as they are responsible for his life.
The Metropolitan stressed that the responsibility of parents for their minor children, as and health of adolescents aged 15 years and older, but currently these data refer to confidentiality.
“The law in this situation, you need to link two themes: the responsibility of parents for their children’s health and the right of parents to access data about the health of their child. As long as parents are responsible for the child, they must have access to the required data,” – said the Archbishop.
