LONDON, APR 25 — RIA Novosti. Embassy of the Russian Federation does not exclude that the British media in the context of the incident in Salisbury are either under strict control or are engaged in self-censorship, said RIA Novosti the representative of the Russian Embassy.

Relations between Russia and Britain deteriorated sharply against the background of the incident in Salisbury, where he was poisoned working for the British secret service, former Colonel of the GRU, Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia. London claims that the poisoning nerve substance A234 involved in the Russian state. Moscow categorically denies.

“Honestly, the British media since the beginning of this story took an unusual position. Instead of trying to find out the truth, they do broadcast one-sided position of the government and numerous non-verifiable leaks. Judge for yourself: British journalists still have not tried to interview discharged from the hospital Yulia Skripal, to visit a hospital in Salisbury, where supposedly is still her father, to request from the authorities, photographs or other evidence that Sergey and Yulia Skrypali are alive and in a position, which stated officially,” — said the representative of the Embassy.

In his opinion, explanations for this behavior of the British media can only be two.

“It suggests two conclusions: either the British media in the context of the incident in Salisbury are strictly controlled (about it wrote on 8 April “Sunday times”), or exercise self-censorship out of fear of some negative consequences. Neither of us would be not surprised: so, the pressure on the Russian channel RT is carried out openly and with no attempts to retouch a political component”, — said the representative of the Embassy.

Recently, the British media regulator Ofcom announced that it has opened seven new investigations in relation to news and documentary programs of the TV channel RT.

“It is possible, of course, that we do not possess all information. We will be glad, if someone from the British media will point out the mistake and tell about trying to get to the truth and how they ended,” — said the source RIA Novosti.
