In Israel expect mass protests in Gaza on the last Friday of Ramadan

Jerusalem. June 8. INTERFAX – the Soldiers of Israel are prepared to respond to mass protests by Palestinians, who can go this Friday in the Gaza strip, the newspaper “the times of Yisrael”.

According to one of the commanders of the defense Army of Israel, the protests could lead to escalation of tension and new conflicts, such as those that occurred on may 14.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if the protests die 40, but I’d like to make it zero,” said the soldier accused in the escalation of the Palestinian militant movement Hamas.

According to the newspaper, the IDF had expected mass protests in the Gaza strip will be held on Tuesday, which coincided with the 51st anniversary of the six day war. However, Hamas called on Palestinians to take to the streets of the Gaza strip on 8 June – the last Friday of the Islamic Holy month of Ramadan.

The situation in Gaza began to deteriorate at the end of March 2018 with the first protests of Palestinians from the Gaza fortifications. The biggest clash of the Palestinians, among whom were armed members of Hamas and the Israeli military occurred on may 14, the anniversary of the founding of the Jewish state, as well as the day of the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
