Patriarch Kirill calls for support for pregnant women in crisis

Moscow. June 1. INTERFAX – IN the children’s Day, Patriarch Kirill addressed the faithful with a call to support expectant mothers who are in difficult situation.

“Today I urge everyone to make a feasible contribution to the General Church helping pregnant women in difficult circumstances. Expectant mothers should feel that they are not alone, that they are cared for, that they are willing to provide shelter, to provide social and psychological support”, – reads the statement of the Patriarch, released on Friday.

As reported, this Sunday in all Orthodox parishes of the Russian Church will host a fundraiser to support pregnant women and women with children in crisis situations.

In his address, the Patriarch lamented that today “many children are not allowed even to be born of God, it is the evil of the human will.”

“Every year in our country are killed in the womb hundreds of thousands of infants, which is comparable to the population of several towns of regional significance. This is truly a national disaster and moral, and population”, – stressed the head of the Church.

According to him, we must do everything possible to the expectant mother facing the choice of continuing or terminating pregnancy, it has not performed the abortion, and this should provide psychological and material assistance to women who are in difficult life situation.

“From what we have learned the Divine law of love, as we responded to her grief, how was followed by Testament and example of Christ may have an impact on someone’s life” – recalls the Patriarch.
