“Everything is bad”: in Ukraine, told about the deplorable state of the army

MOSCOW, 27 Jun — RIA Novosti. Stories about strong Ukrainian army are fiction, said the former commander of the APU Vladimir Shilov in an interview with “Obozrevatel”.

He noted that the country’s Armed forces could not enter the top ten strongest armies in Europe, as in the recent situation with the Ukrainian military “has deteriorated”. According to Shilova, Kiev “ruined” all the volunteer movement, and the contractors don’t want to deal with the APU.

“If people had the ability to terminate the contract, 50 percent would be instantly terminated and left to the citizen. It’s really bad. God forbid, Russia will move”, — said Shilov.

In Kiev often trying to put APU “defenders” in Europe. Earlier the President Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian army is “the strongest on the European continent among the armed forces of countries outside the NATO”. Ex-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk claimed that in the interests of the West to accept Ukraine into NATO, because it “guards” the borders of the Alliance.

In fact, the Ukrainian army faces serious problems. In October last year, chief military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoliy Matios said that in 2014, more than ten thousand soldiers were killed or injured for reasons not related to the fighting in the Donbass. The Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak explained losses in the Ukrainian army diseases, a violation of the security measures and the use of alcohol.
