MOSCOW, 1 Jul — RIA Novosti. The EU needs Russia and look forward to working with her, said in an interview with Bild, the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas.
“We are open to dialogue and we expect that confidence will be gradually restored, if Russia is from its part ready for it,” he said.
According to him, Russia is an important pillar of the world order, and cooperation with Moscow on issues of armed conflicts and disarmament it is necessary for the EU.
However, Maas noted that the expulsion of Russian diplomats from EU countries were showing solidarity with London and a “signal of unity”.
Previously, a number of EU countries, USA, Canada, Norway, Ukraine and some other countries announced the expulsion of Russian diplomats in connection with the poisoning of ex-GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia in Salisbury in the UK. Moscow responded took the mirror measures.
