Moscow. April 17. INTERFAX – the Russian Orthodox Church believes that its unity cannot be revised.
“We believe that the unity of the Orthodox Church is a solid value that must be supported by all Orthodox churches,” – said to journalists on Tuesday the head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion.
He commented on the message that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed to the Constantinople Patriarch Bartholomew with a request for recognition of autocephaly (independence) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The Hierarch noticed, however, that does not have reliable information about the content of the conversation between Poroshenko and Patriarch Bartholomew.
The Metropolitan also said the Russian Orthodox Church continue to pray about overcoming schism in Ukraine, about “people who go into schism, returned to the bosom of the canonical Church” headed by Metropolitan of Kyiv Onufry.
“We have to dialogue remains open”, – concluded the Metropolitan.
