Trump has denied claims by Moscow that Syria shot down released on her rocket

The President and the Pentagon stress that all the missiles have hit their targets, despite the statements of Russia about the successful use of air defense

The US President Donald trump and the Pentagon has denied Russian claims that the Syrian air defense system shot down most of the cruise missiles fired at three key sites associated with chemical weapons.

Russian media said Monday, citing the Ministry of defense, anti-aircraft missiles Russian production of “Pantsir-S1” of the Syrian armed forces showed nearly 100% efficiency in reflection of Saturday’s airstrikes.

As stated by the official representative of the Russian defense Ministry major General Igor Konashenkov, the system used 112 anti-aircraft missiles, knocking down 71 of 103 cruise missiles launched in the US, UK and France.

Self-propelled anti-aircraft system ground-based “Carapace” is capable of hitting multiple targets simultaneously. According to the Center for strategic and international studies, missile complex have a range of about 20 km.

Despite the claims of Russia, President of trump and the Pentagon insist on the correctness of its initial assessment, according to which all 105 missiles hit the targets set with an interval of just two minutes.

“They didn’t hit any one, said trump on Monday in Florida. Their technique didn’t work out too well.”

“We are confident that all our missile reached the target,” said Saturday the representative of the joint chiefs of staff U.S. army Lieutenant General Kenneth Mackenzie.

“None of our aircraft and none of the missiles involved in this operation had not been intercepted by Syrian air defense systems, and we have no evidence that was used by the Russian air defense system”, – he added.

According to the Pentagon, there is also no evidence that any of the rockets were intercepted by the most advanced Russian air defense system s-400, and that it generally has been activated.

As stated by the US authorities, from more than 40 rockets of a class “earth-air”, launched by Syria in response to the airstrikes, most of them were fired after American, British and French cruise missiles reached their targets.

“According to our estimates, defense Syria’s efforts were mostly ineffective, and clearly raised the risk for the population, given this chaotic response,” said Mackenzie.

“When you shoot rockets in the air without control, they inevitably somewhere will fall,” he added.

Other representatives of the U.S. government airstrikes also assessed positively.

“Judging by the photos we saw at the moment, it is clear that our action was a success, said a senior administration official. – We have seen that objects and all the equipment that was there, destroyed.”

According to U.S. authorities, all three goals – research center Barzah in Damascus and warehouse facilities in the district of HOMS – was involved in the production and use of chlorine and sarin. They claim that the evidence of release of toxic substances into the air strikes was not detected.

President trump said Friday that the strikes can be part of a larger campaign if the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad continues to use chemical weapons.

On Monday, the White house admitted the possibility that could lead to more strikes. “We will continue to consider a number of options if Syria, Russia and Iran will not show their best side in this process”, – said the press Secretary of the White house Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the journalists accompanying the President in his trip to Florida.
